I was dog-sitting our grandpuppie, Cubby, when I thought I would make him some of my dog treats. We always give him treats and he expects them whenever he stays with us. Cubby really likes my homemade treats and they costs pennies to make.
1 cup wheat flour
1/4 cup oats
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/3 cup beef broth (add 1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon to water)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with non-stick foil or parchment paper.
Mix all ingredients in a glass bowl thoroughly. Roll out 1/4” thick and cutout shapes using cookie cutters or a knife.
Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until lightly brown, turning halfway through.
Remove treats to a cooling rack and allow them to cool completely. Store in a ziplock bag or airtight container. This made 16 – 3 1/2” treats. I give him half of one, so I actually get 32 treats from this recipe.
Bacon: Use bacon drippings instead of oil.
Peanut Butter: Use peanut butter instead of oil, and plain water.
Chicken: Use chicken bouillon instead of beef.
See, I told you Cubby liked them!
A bag of these dog treats would make a nice stocking stuffer…Christmas is just around the corner…ugh!
